About

The AIAA Orange County Section Rocketry was officially formed in January 2010.  But the group has been around since 2000 in various forms – mostly attached to youth organizations.  We now feel honored to be part of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Education Outreach.  The AIAA is a professional society of engineers, scientists and individuals working or interested in Aeronautics or Astronautics.  Mentors to this sport rocketry group are Bob (Level 2 NAR) and Jann Koepke (Level 1 NAR) in Orange, CA.  Daughter Sjoen (Level 1 Jr NAR) is very active in the projects, is the Project Manager for the SLI team, a member of a TARC team and helps out with the club. Bob started in rocketry right after Sputnik I was launched and Jann started in rocketry after she met Bob.  We have done rocketry with our own kids, Indian Princesses, Indian Guides, 4H, and now through the AIAA.  It is our goal to interest youth in Science and Engineering through rocketry – an activity that is fun, safe, and educational.
