This includes launches that we have done as well as testing of the black powder charges and the altimeter.\u00a0 Click on the photos to the left of the text to start the .wmv file video.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HUNTSVILLE LAUNCH VIDEOS (April 17, 2011)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/Videos\/SLI2011\/SLI 2011 Huntsville Launch.wmv\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-578\" title=\"Huntsville Launch_125x125\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Huntsville-Launch_125x125.jpg?resize=125%2C125&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"125\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a>This 18.5 MByte video shows the launch of the full scale rocket at Bragg Farms near Huntsville, AL.\u00a0 This launch used a Cesaroni K635 Red Lightning motor carrying the full recover electronics and payload.\u00a0 The rocket travelled to\u00a0over 5,500 feet.\u00a0 Both\u00a0drogue and main deployed as planned &#8211;\u00a0after each of these parachutes deploy you can see\u00a0a second puff of smoke as the back-up electronics fire their charges.\u00a0 They payload tested the latency time of writing to a conventional electro-mechanical hard drive (NOT a solid state drive) under the &#8220;G&#8221; Full scale\u00a0Black Brant rocket.\u00a0 On our first full scale flight, the main did not fully deploy &#8211; so more testing was needed &#8211; this time with the main in place.\u00a0 We made several changes &#8211; packing the parachute tighter and wrapping the shroud lines around it to keep it packed, moving the ejection charge, moving the attachment point, changing the Nomex shield wrap.\u00a0\u00a0And we increased the blackpowder charge to 2.0 grams to develop\u00a0250lbs of force against the bulkhead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCALE ROCKET (2.6&#8243; DIAMETER 62&#8243; TALL)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/Videos\/SLI2011\/SLI%202011%20Scale%20First%20Launch.wmv\"><\/a><a class=\"alignleft\" href=\"https:\/\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/Videos\/SLI2011\/SLI%202011%20Scale%20First%20Launch.wmv\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-344\" title=\"ScaleLaunch1A_125x125\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ScaleLaunch1A_125x125.jpg?resize=125%2C125&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"125\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This 16 MByte video shows the first flight of the scale model rocket, the rocket used a Cesaroni 276H152-15A Blue Streak Motor drilled to an 8 second delay and had a MAWD flight computer on board, but not set for ejection charges. The rocket reached an altitude of 1938 feet, the wind was calm (2 mph).\u00a0 This launch was with the San Diego Tripoli near Plaster City, California.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"alignleft\" href=\"https:\/\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/Videos\/SLI2011\/SLI 2011 Scale Second Launch.wmv\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-348\" title=\"ScaleLaunch2_125x125\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/ScaleLaunch2_125x125.jpg?resize=125%2C125&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"125\" height=\"125\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This 9 MByte video shows the\u00a0second flight of the scale model rocket, the rocket used\u00a0the same\u00a0Cesaroni 276H152-15A Blue Streak Motor with the ejection charge removed and had an MAWD flight computer on board to deploy the drogue and main parachutes.
