{"id":41,"date":"2010-10-31T09:58:09","date_gmt":"2010-10-31T16:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/?page_id=41"},"modified":"2014-09-29T06:02:28","modified_gmt":"2014-09-29T13:02:28","slug":"tarc","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/aiaaocrocketry.org\/?page_id=41","title":{"rendered":"TARC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TARC (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketcontest.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Team\u00a0America Rocketry Challenge<\/a>)\u00a0is the world&#8217;s largest rocket contest for 7th through 12th grade students.\u00a0 Each year the AIA (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aia-aerospace.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aerospace Industries Association <\/a>)\u00a0and\u00a0 NAR (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nar.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Association of Rocketry<\/a>)\u00a0challenge up to\u00a01000 teams across the United States to design, build, and fly a rocket that meets a challenge they issue.\u00a0 This year (2014-2015) that rocket must fly to exactly 800 feet, with a total flight time of 46 &#8211; 48 seconds, and carry one raw hen&#8217;s egg and return it unbroken using a parachute.\u00a0 The rocket must separate with the payload section and motor section returning on their own recovery devices.\u00a0 The rocket must weigh less than 650 grams, be longer than 650mm and fly on an &#8220;F&#8221; engine (or smaller).\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketcontest.org\/pdf\/2015_Rocket_Contest_Rules.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Click here for the 2015 TARC contest rules<\/a>.\u00a0 And the 2015 TARC Team Handbook can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocketcontest.org\/pdf\/TARC_2015_Team_Handbook.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>2012-2013 will be the eighth year we have participated in TARC &#8211; teams are forming now.\u00a0 Our first TARC\u00a0team (2007-2008) placed 3rd in the list of alternates after the 100 qualifying teams.\u00a0 The\u00a0next year&#8217;s team (2008-2009) #7205 barely missed the list of alternates.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The next year (2009-2010) team #8079 placed 8th in the nation at the Fly-Offs in May 2010 near Washington, DC. and, as one of the top 20 teams, was invited to participate in NASA&#8217;s student launch initiative project this year. And next two years (2011-2012) we had two teams,\u00a0but the students were so involved with the NASA SLI project they could not spend as much time as needed on TARC.
