2016 Competition (Third Annual)

SPARC 2016 rules

SPARC is the Student Payload and Rocketry Challenge with the emphasis more on the payload.  SPARC begins June 1, 2016 and ends October 8, 2o16 with a Rocket Science Fair at the ROCtober launch with the Rocketry Organization of California.   Students (7th through 12th grade) participating in SPARC will:

  • Design an engineering or scientific payload using Arduino electronics
  • Submit a proposal of the project and have it approved
  • There are two challenges (launched to 1,000 – 2,500 feet and are NOT orbital)
    • CanSat (Similar to the European CanSat program for high school) – recommended for 9th – 12th grade students participating in SPARC
    • Small Satellites for Secondary Students AND build a 3″ diameter rocket – recommended for 7th and 8th grade students participating in SPARC
  • Keep an Engineering Notebook
  • Participate in the Rocket Science Fair at ROCtober on October 8, 2016
  • Plaques are awarded
